"How do Conservative principles impact the happiness and prosperity of all Americans?"

Pro-life, Limited Government and Societal Happiness

by Joel Carson

In life there are many of things that make us humans happy. Maybe it’s new clothes, winning a basketball game, or getting a good grade on a test we’ve been studying for. But let’s look a little deeper. How do conservative principles that are in our everyday life affect our personal happiness and happiness in society around us? In this essay I want to address the two principles that to me lead to the most happiness; Limited Government and the principle of pro-life.
First off, Limited government. It is a natural human desire to have freedom. The freedom to speak, work, bear arms, write and more, just as our Nations constitution states. But extreme government control largely takes away those freedoms that we Americans want.  Liberal views that we see today lead more and more to the socialistic side. Which is highly government controlled. Our very own president is pursuing bills to limit our rights to bear arms as we please. The liberal democrats in congress want to raise taxes more than are even now. But socialism and heavy government control is not what most Americans want in their lives. Paul Ryan once said, “We believe, as our founders did, that 'the pursuit of happiness' depends upon individual liberty; and individual liberty requires limited government.” This quote couldn’t be more correct. Ryan said “the pursuit of happiness” happiness itself, depends incredibly on individual liberty. Liberty simply cannot exist where government overwhelms. Finally, Mitt Romney said. “I don't want to transform America. I want to restore to America the economic values of freedom and opportunity and limited government that has made us the powerhouse of the world.” America became the powerhouse we are because of our liberty lead happiness. Limited government has let our people have a say, it has lead us to work together and have that feeling of happiness and liberty. Liberty is happiness.

Lastly, the principle of pro-life. Mike Huckabee once said. “I think at the heart of the pro-life movement is the idea that all people are created equal, endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights starting with life.” As I stated in my previous paragraph liberty and unalienable rights lead to happiness. Everybody on this earth deserves the chance of life. Our nation was founded on religious principles and the grace of God played a huge role in the founding of America. And God himself loves every single one of us. He wants us all to live and have an opportunity at a successful life. Personally waking up and seeing the sunlight every morning makes me happy and it makes many others happy. No matter who you are, you deserve that right to see the sun, especially an infant, who is just waiting for his or her chance at life. Bill Cosby once said, “Nothing I've ever done has given me more joys and rewards than being a father to my children.” Even though at times it may not seem like it or that being a parent will bring hardship or pain, being a parent brings joy. Things will never be easy but the opportunity of life and the right to life and family is what creates happiness all around us.

Again, many things in life lead to our happiness, but the conservative principles of limited government and pro-life are those that undoubtedly create a long lasting pure happiness that cannot be taken away.
